Octopath Traveler Holuburg Maze Guide

According to Bangladesh Cricket Match, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent has finally pushed its main storyline into the long-anticipated region of Holuburg. This seemingly forgotten city by time introduces a fairly manageable difficulty curve in the main quest—but the true challenge lies in its sprawling maze-like design.

Players will begin by navigating the Holuburg Mountain Path, a segment that may require a bit of patience. Once inside Holuburg Castle, expect to face numerous puzzles and mechanisms—some of which must be solved in a specific sequence. While these aren’t impossibly difficult, they do require a bit of thought. Despite early speculation that this chapter would focus on Lin Yu, the narrative actually shifts to Lond, though unfortunately without a corresponding banner update for his character.

Bangladesh Cricket Match users also noted that the so-called “Valley of Death” mentioned by King Rishalt is none other than the terrifying valley from earlier chapters. Here, players previously fought alongside the swordswoman El, with notable appearances from Krauze and King Patis III. It’s eventually revealed that El is actually Princess Erika. After defeating three blocking monsters, the full map unlocks, including a hidden level 100 elder NPC located near the left side of the bridge.

This new overworld map includes three treasure chests and up to three NPCs that allow map-specific commands. Upon reaching Holuburg proper, players will explore two distinct city maps, each containing five NPCs who offer daily soul fragment rewards. Holuburg Castle itself is divided into four major zones with a total of 18 treasure chests. While none of the puzzles are too complex, the map’s size and layout can be disorienting.

Two cleverly hidden treasure chests are worth highlighting. The first is located in “West Castle,” right after entering the zone—drop through two holes in a specific room to reach it. The second chest is in a room with a boss monster, subtly tucked on the right side. Unless you’re the curious type, you might miss it altogether. The only way to reach it is by using wall-phasing mechanics, as the surrounding traps and blocked angles are designed to mislead. The trick is to ignore the obvious and run into the right-hand wall from below—revealing a secret path.

As for the main story boss, it’s more of a cinematic battle than a true challenge. Rather than facing Lond head-on, just focus on eliminating his elemental spirits first. The second phase of the fight is similarly straightforward and often quite fun for most players.

On the equipment front, the update introduces the new Abyss weapon series “Engrave.” Compared to the previous “Thorn” set, “Engrave” shifts soul slot benefits from skill boosts to direct stat increases. Most players only need to craft one full set for their compendium; perfection isn’t necessary. If you skipped the “Thorn” series, making a few “Engrave” weapons might be worthwhile, but the real meta-defining gear is likely coming in future updates.

For players lacking a dedicated healer, Lianna remains an excellent option. She can be upgraded to level 100 using rewards from the Traveler’s Memoir. While those chasing full 10-awakening may find themselves short on gold guide stones, Lianna’s personal stones are abundant enough to compensate.

As for whether the Traveler’s Memoir is worth buying—considering it includes rubies, awakening stone shards, and a powerful accessory at the end—it’s easily one of the best value purchases right now. And for a final surprise: beloved character Teresa is finally making a return—and best of all, she’ll be available for free.
